Prerequisites and Equipment

Level 1 and 2 Course

While we don’t expect people to be world cup skiers or boarders, students are expected to have a willingness to try bumps, improve their powder skiing, and develop their carving. At the start of our course students should be able to ski confidently on red runs linking turns down the fall line and being in control of their speed.

If you are unsure of your level don't hesitate to contact us and we can always arrange to meet you over the summer for a ski/board on one of the snow domes or dry slopes around the U.K.

Level 1 Course

This course is for people who have never skied or snowboarded before. The course is physically and mentally demanding and we strongly recommend that you have a good level of fitness before booking onto this course.

Equipment

This season Altitude Futures Gap students will receive the sought after “Ski/Board Instructor Pro Deal” which offers up to 50% discounts on equipment and Smith Goggles. It is essential that all students have their own skis/boards and boots for the duration of the course. If you require any advice on equipment then don’t hesitate to ask one of our coaches for more details.

Professional Attitude

The Altitude Team provides all of its Gap Students with an amazing opportunity to live and train in the world famous resort of Verbier. Every effort will be made to make this an experience you will never forget. In return we will expect to see a professional positive attitude to your own development and training throughout the course.

Fitness

While you do not need to be incredibly fit to become an instructor, you will find it easier to improve your technical skiing/boarding and enjoy the course more the fitter you are.

Initially focus on improving cardiovascular fitness followed by some specific leg strengthening exercises. Remember to do some stretching as well. For more details see our fitness page.
